COMMITMENT TO SAFETY 

J.M. Maly, Inc. earns Gold Level in ASA's Commitment to Safety program for having an exemplary health program, an effective site-specific safety and health plan, and continuous progress in employee safety.

To qualify for Gold Level J.M. Maly, Inc. must provide evidence:

● Conduct weekly employee safety training meetings
● Document and conduct self-inspections
● Implement a comprehensive written safety health program
● Assign at least one trained employee to administer the participant’s safety and health program to conduct documented safety and health inspections of ongoing work
● Hold an orientation for all new, company employees about the safety and health program
● Show evidence of employee involvement in the safety and health program
● Develop and maintain a substance abuse program
● Implement a 6 foot fall protection policy
● Require all field construction supervisory personnel to have the training equivalent to the OSHA 10 hour Construction Outreach Training Course
● Participate on the ASA-HC safety committee (one employee)
● Ensure that written, site-specific safety and health plans are followed on worksites in addition to the previously developed comprehensive written safety and health program
● Serve as a mentor for subcontractors on worksites who have yet to attain the same level of recognition within the CTS program
● Receive a qualifying inspection of at least one representative job site by the ASA-HC safety committee or the chapter’s designated representatives
● Confirm that designated safety personnel conduct documented safety and health inspections of all work on their worksites
● Attain additional training provided for competent persons in areas such as scaffolding, excavation, fall protection, etc.
● Maintain an EMR of .90 or lower; or a three-year average DART (Days Away Restricted /Transferred) rate at 15% or less under the national number for your SIC code; or a three-year average TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) at 15% or less under the national number for your SIC code.
● Obtain no OSHA “willful” violations, no more than three “serious” violations, no more than one “serious” violation within 12 months and no fatalities or “catastrophes” that resulted in serious citations related to the incident  during the 36 months prior to application due date


ABOUT
ASA-Houston Chapter's Commitment To Safety (CTS) program was developed to increase the number of specialty contractors who implement effective safety and health programs and provide effective safety and health training for management, supervisors and employees. There are three levels of the program - Member, Silver, and Gold.
